The European Central Bank (ECB), jointly with the Florence School of Banking and Finance of the European University Institute (EUI), is hosting a high-level seminar on internal governance, ‘Governance and risk culture: going forward by looking back’, focused on the role of banks’ executive and non-executive directors.
The seminar will be an opportunity for dialogue between banks’ directors and senior supervisors on the lessons learned from recent crises, including the one in 2023. The seminar also aims to open a discussion with the industry on what the elements that make boards effective are and how the collective suitability of boards and the individual accountability of board members interact.
