Biography

Experienced professional with a demonstrated history of working in the financial services industry covering the regulatory and the commercial side of financial institutions.
After spending over 10 years in the public sector, she decided in 2023 to continue her career in Banking. Svetlana is currently shaping the path of Kreissparkasse Köln as the second largest savings bank in Germany towards becoming a Significant Institution (SI) and preparing the bank for the upcoming ECB & SRB supervision.
She previously served as Director-General at BaFin & Federal Agency for Financial Market Stabilization (FMSA) being responsible for the resolution planning of the biggest portfolio in the Banking Union (SIs, LSIs and FMIs). Svetlana served many years as a member of the Executive Extended Sessions of the SRB as well as a member of the Cross-Border Crisis Management Group for banks at the Financial Stability Board (FSB).
In her role as a Deputy Head of Policy Department Svetlana has been instrumental in setting up the German NRA within the FMSA in 2015 and contributed to the conceptual work on resolution related topics for the Single Resolution Mechanism (SRM).
She is well experienced with international cooperation and collaboration along with policy work on a national and international level.
Prior to joining the FMSA in 2012 Svetlana developed her leadership roles also at ABN AMRO Bank N.V. (Frankfurt Branch) and KPMG.
Svetlana has a profound knowledge of working methods of the Eurosystem, BU and other relevant European and international fora.
Her special focus is on risk management, transformation and resilience of banks and setting strategic priorities to create a sustainable and purpose driven impact on business in the world of polycrisis, digitalization & demographic challenges in an evolving regulatory environment.
Svetlana holds two Master degrees in Business Administration (Dipl.-Kauffrau) and in Linguistics. She is also a Certified Risk Manager.
