Biography

Martin is Executive Director at the Slovak National Bank with economics, research, market operations and statistics responsibilities. He has long-standing policy experience and published widely on the financial sector and emerging market issues. Between 2018 and 2022, he was Lead Economist at the Joint Vienna Institute, an IMF Capacity Development Institute. Prior to this, he held various positions at the ECB, including Deputy Head of the Macroprudential Policy and Stress Testing Divisions and Head of the Convergence Section. Dr Martin holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Hamburg, Germany and Master’s Degrees in Economics and Political Science from the Universities of Sussex and Bristol.
