Biography

Pedro Machado is a Member of the Supervisory Board of the Single Supervisory Mechanism at the European Central Bank, with over three decades of experience in European banking supervision, financial regulation, and legal affairs. He has held senior leadership positions at the Single Resolution Board, Banco de Portugal, the European Central Bank, and the Portuguese Ministry of Finance, and previously worked in financial services consulting and private legal practice. A law graduate from the University of Lisbon, he pursued doctoral studies in European and International Law at the European University Institute in Florence. His expertise spans banking supervision, resolution, crisis management, supervisory effectiveness, sanctions, and digital tools supporting supervision.
