Biography
Marcin is a Jean Monnet Fellow at the Florence School of Banking and Finance at the Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies. He is an Assistant Professor at the Polish Academy of Sciences and a Research Fellow at the University of Oxford. He has been a Visiting Scholar at NYU Stern School of Business and a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Cape Town.
He has ten years of experience as a financial economist at the National Bank of Poland and the European Central Bank, where he conducted empirical policy research on systemic risk and financial stability. He holds a PhD in Finance from the University of Gdansk. His doctoral thesis received the award for the best doctoral dissertation granted by the President of the National Bank of Poland.
His research focuses on financial stability, financial intermediation, and climate finance. Recently, his primary area of interest has been the role of banks in the transition to a low-carbon economy and the financial effects of geopolitical risk on bank lending. His current projects examine the impact of carbon pricing on firms’ financial conditions and the role of bank ownership in determining lending to carbon-intensive firms.
