Biography
Léa Deleris is currently Head of the Artificial Intelligence Robots and Tech (AIR Tech) team within BNP Paribas.
AIR Tech is a joint venture between the RISK and Compliance functions of the Group focused on AI, Robotic Process Automation and Innovation and Tech.
Lea joined BNPP in October 2018 to build and run a data science team within BNP Paribas RISK function. At BNPP, her team of data scientists is currently working on a wide array of problems linking data, AI and risk management broadly defined, for instance alert optimization, rare events detection, anomaly detection, gap analysis for controls, question answering solutions for ESG data and using machine learning to alleviate data quality challenges.
Prior to joining the banking industry, Léa worked at IBM Research, spending four years at IBM Watson Research Center, the company’s main research laboratory near New York, and then another 8 years managing a team of researchers in Artificial Intelligence and Natural Language Processing in the IBM Research – Dublin lab in Ireland
As a researcher, she has investigated a variety of applied and formal problems in the domain of Artificial Intelligence and risk modelling broadly defined, ranging from vulnerability modelling in eldercare, to leveraging knowledge within academic publications to better understand breast cancer risk, to contributions to the IBM Debater project whose objective is to teach a machine the art of debate.
Léa is an alumni of Ecole Polytechnique. She holds an MS. and a PhD. from Stanford University and an HDR from Université Paris Dauphine-PSL.
