Biography

Johan (1959) has joined APG as Head of International Public Affairs in October 2015. Johan is based in Brussels and Amsterdam and spends most of his time on European affairs. During 2019-2020, Johan was also secretary to the NextCMU high-level expert group (group tasked by ministers of Finance of France, Germany and the Netherlands to advise on further development of the European capital markets union).

Formerly financial counsellor at the Dutch permanent representation to the EU, Johan has made a career in the Dutch ministry of finance where he held positions as deputy director for financial markets and deputy director for direct tax policy and legislation.

Johan studied public law & administration and tax law at the universities in Leyden, Florence (European University Institute) and Rotterdam. He is also registered as a mediator.
