Biography

Igor Angelini is Senior Advisor to the Executive Director of Europol, in charge, among others, of the files concerning economic and financial crimes. In this capacity, he led the creation of the European Financial and Economic Crime Centre at Europol in 2020.

Previously, he worked at the European Commission – Home Affairs, with the task of shaping EU policies to fight crime and terrorism and negotiating international agreements in the field of security and police cooperation. Before that, he was Head of Financial Intelligence at Europol, supporting and coordinating investigations of the EU member states in the fields of money laundering, terrorism financing, corruption and criminal asset recovery.

His career in law enforcement started in 1993, when he joined the Guardia di Finanza, the Italian Financial Police, where he served as head of investigation units devoted to the fight against economic and financial crimes. He graduated in Law and in Economic and Financial Security.
