Biography
Gábor Gyura has a master’s degree in Economics and holds a PhD in Earth Sciences. He was the founding head of the Sustainable Finance Department at the Central Bank of Hungary and was responsible for the Bank’s green agenda between 2018 and 2022, developing the domestic green finance market and the environmental risk management in the financial system. Since May 2022 he has been a consultant supporting the United Nations Environment Program Finance Initiative (UNEP FI), designing and delivering capacity-building programs for banks. Previously he held senior expert and management positions (Acting Director of Bank Supervision, Head of Supervisory Methodology, and Head of Bank Resolution Department) at the Central Bank of Hungary and also worked as a financial services policy expert at the European Central Bank. He also serves on committees of sustainability-related organizations, among others, the Sustainability & Corporate Governance Committee of the Budapest Stock Exchange, and also on advisory boards of several sustainability-related research projects under the EU’s LIFE and Horizon programs.
