Biography

Efthimia Kefalea is Head of Derivatives Clearing Development at Eurex Clearing. She is responsible for the strategic evolution of clearing services across listed and OTC derivatives, working closely with market participants, regulators, and infrastructure partners to deliver resilient and efficient solutions. Her work supports Eurex Clearing’s role as a leading CCP in Europe, with a focus on harmonization, scalability, and responsiveness to market needs.

Efthimia has led several high-impact initiatives, including the launch of the first DLT-facilitated collateral mobilization service for Eurex Clearing—marking a global first for central counterparties. She also contributes to broader industry efforts such as the ECB’s exploratory work on wholesale central bank money and the BIS-led Project Agorá. Efthimia holds a PhD in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics from the University of Bonn and a Master’s degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Patras.
