Biography

With 20 years of experience in the Austrian and international private banking sector, Christine Würfel is responsible for the bank´s strategic sustainability management in Austria and Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). She is responsible for the holistic ESG steering and governance, including the fulfillment of commitment to UNEP FI´s Principles for Responsible Banking with the focus on Climate, Biodiversity, Financial Health and Human Rights. She manages material ESG stakeholder engagement, as vice versa the dialogue with ESG Rating Agencies, regulators and representatives of the society on sustainable developments. Christine manages the ESG disclosure obligations in the banking group’s sustainability statement of the annual report. As a lawyer, she has an in-depth knowledge and practical understanding of the regulatory ESG framework and political decision-making process in Europe, worked in her previous positions in the European Parliament and is a member, speaker, academic lecturer and author of several global and European ESG initiatives, forums and publications.
