Workshop on Artificial Intelligence and New Technologies in the Financial Sector
How emerging technologies are transforming financial systems
This workshop explores how artificial intelligence and emerging technologies are transforming the financial sector, with particular attention to their effects on financial markets, financial behaviour, and the provision of financial services. As innovation accelerates, technologies such as artificial intelligence, distributed ledger technology, tokenisation, and quantum computing are reshaping how financial institutions operate, how markets function, and how households and firms interact with financial products and intermediaries. These developments are opening new opportunities for efficiency, inclusion, and innovation, while also raising important questions about governance, transparency, risk, and market structure.
Against this background, the workshop aims to provide a forum for discussing both the practical applications and the broader implications of these technological changes. Contributions will address, among other, the use of artificial intelligence and tokenisation in key areas of central banking and finance, including their impact in financial processes and markets, as well as the regulatory and ethical challenges associated with its adoption. By bringing these perspectives together, the event seeks to foster a deeper understanding of how new technologies are redefining financial systems and to encourage dialogue on the policy, economic, and societal challenges that accompany this transformation.
