Is the time right for a wave of bank consolidation?
Join top banking experts to debate whether consolidation is the key to a stronger, more competitive European banking sector
As part of the Bank Board Academy, the Florence School of Banking and Finance is hosting a webinar with leading banking experts to explore the advantages and challenges of further bank consolidation in Europe and beyond.
Since the Great Financial Crisis, banking regulations have largely focused on targeting too-big-to-fail (TBTF) firms. Yet, in several subsequent crises — including the 2023 banking turmoil — TBTF appears to have been the solution.
Today, Europe is seeing increasing efforts to consolidate its fragmented banking sector, taking further steps toward Banking Union.
But is bank consolidation truly beneficial for financial stability? Does scale enhance competitiveness and efficiency in the financial sector? And is the current European environment conducive to further bank consolidation?
This webinar is designed for policymakers, regulators, bank executives and non-executive board members.
